from not knowing the exact specifics of this, my gut reaction is this:
of course this isn't just about the nigerian government, it is the nigerian government taking orders from a higher authority which explains the media blackout. this is empire's fist with the gloves off doing exactly what it needs to do to secure diminishing resources to fund its economic agenda.
expect more of it and expect obama to do NOTHING because he is the figurehead of it now and he knows what will happen if he doesn't follow orders.
either that or if the public outcry is "noteworthy" to our "leaders" (meaning damaging to their public image) then there will by myopically pointed fingers at the nigerian government or someone "bad" in the nigerian government in a vacuum, ignoring the larger geo-political agendas that fuels such violence.
