The key to maintaining a system is to make sure there is the appearance of choice via opposition. As long as you focus on the extremes, you never sight the continuous middle.

Democrats vs. Republicans
Capitalism vs. Communism
Liberal vs. Conservative

So OWS and feminism and civil rights and gay rights must all be promoted to give the illusion of voice.

Yet, there is no dialogue on whiteness...privilege...entitlement...hierarchy.

Those topics are the true REVOLUTIONARY thoughts. That is why colorism was so controversial here. It challenged deep engrained notions that were business as usual.

Everything else is concocted diversion...reality TV...conspiracy theory...TMZ...X files...etc.

OWS is present-day hippie-ism like I think you mentioned before.

Rootsie wrote an interesting article about hippies that I find relative. In fact, I find many of her articles relative to the topic you present.
