Re: Clarification...
In Response To: Re: Clarification... ()

***Is it a distortion and a product of racism that Black Africans, (of which I would qualify culturally, genetically and politically) would consider ones such as yourself, politically and ‘culturally’ African?***

You asked me what I identify myself as, not what others identify me as. If other Dark skinned and Bantu phenotyped Africans, who make up the masses of African people do not consider me as African that is their right.

I have yet to meet someone who has an issue with my choice of identity, because I clearly state that I am genetically both(which is obvious and undeniable) yet my political identity(loyalties) and cultural identity(lividity) are African. For clarification, by political identity, I am not talking about socialist/capitalist economic systems, but racial politics under white supremacy. IMO one cannot simultaneously identify with white supremacist racial politics and be pro-African(or any non-white group). Usually those who do are either uber individualists with absolutely no group/collective consciousness, politically/socially masochists, and/or self loathers... Whether they are bi-racial or not.

***Why would Obama not have the privilege of considering himself “African-American” and you do…or at least consider yourself ‘African’ (culturally/politically)? If you have this privilege and Obama doesn’t is this a case of sexism….since you are a sister?***

I'm not sure quite where you are coming from but I will respond to the best of my ability. Just as an FYI, I am responding for myself, not from or for Leslie's words/article, you would have to ask her for clarification on her statements/opinions.

Firstly, I never said that Obama couldn't identify as African/Black culturally/politically, that was completely conjecture on your part. He is factually genetically African & European though. You would have to ask Obama what he self identifies as in the other mentioned arenas. Now, the fact that he is head of the largest imperialist nation on earth speaks volumes to his 'loyalties' IMO. It would be difficult to be loyal to the masses of humanity while simultaneously taking on such a position... This being a corporate oligarchy in bed with Zionist international bankers and all...

I've already thoroughly explained why IMO bi-racial people should concentrate on 'work' rather than representative leadership for the masses of African people.

***How is the genetics of an individual linked to their politics? How can one be African politically?***

Identity is a complex issue. Race is political. Colourism is political. Most of what we do and think has a political consequence or message attatched to it. I don't see how race isn't political. In a state of global patriarchal white supremacy, I cannot fathom how race is detatched from politics, unless someone is completely unconscious and unaware... which wouldn't detatch it anywhere but in their own confused mind.

***Is an indigenous African capitalist, any less ‘Politically’ African than a muli-racial Socialist?***

Like I stated, I wasn't refferencing political/economic systems, but rather racial politics under white patriarchal supremacy, which change little under different forms of political/economic systems.

***Does it work against dark skin Africans that InI consider or 'buy-in' to the notion that you and other multi-racial identify yourselves as Africans culturally and politically?***

Not in my opinion. As long as the fact that I am genetically both, and certain limitiations of my own and the current society via colourism/white supremacy are taken into account. You can get a clearer idea of what I am reffering to when it comes to personal 'identity' in the larger sense.. He describes 'my meaning' quite nicely.

Now, if you are asking in refference to Leslie's article, you would have to ask her opinion.

***Please overstand that that questions are presented with intentions meant to provoke discussions and not ill will.

Bless***

No problem. It didn't come off as ill will.
