Title: Rumors of a Black Pope Post by: Poetic_Princess on April 04, 2005, 03:25:06 PM Greetings and Blessings to one and all in the name of H.I.M
They have being some rumors around and spreading like wildfire that the new pope to be elected to the vatican is a black pope Francis Arinze from the motherland of nigeria. It would be a surprise to me if it does evolved to be true. What do you guys think? Title: Re: Rumors of a Black Pope Post by: Bantu_Kelani on April 04, 2005, 05:52:30 PM "Catholicism," or "Christendom," is not representative of the traditional religion of "peace" of black African people. Can we forget the massive slave trading business of the European Christians? Pope Julius II allowing the selling and carrying of African blacks across the across the Atlantic, the depravity of someone being intolerant in the name of God, etc? A black Pope would make black people look stupid, dumb, nothing else to say.

How and why should black people find the appointment of a black pope uplifting? I mean think about it. There have been other blacks in positions of ‘presumed’ power in recent years, Colin Powell, Condelezza Rice and Kofi Annan to name a few, but what contribution have they made other than to bolster a system that oppresses black people and other indigenous people. A black pope would be nothing more than another “figure head”. It is absolutely ridiculous, considering who and what the pope represents, to think that the appointment of a black pope could represent , or improve, the plights of black people on a spiritual level or in any arena for that matter.

Greetings , I found an article written by African journalist about three little-known African popes . Maybe it would be interesting for somebody here . Also , I hope the new Pope would not be African . Probably he will be Italian or somebody from South America . By Otsieno Namwaya There were three African Popes who came from a region of North Africa where the people were predominately Negro and are still Negroid today. Although there are no authentic portraits of these popes, there are drawings and references in the Catholic Encyclopedia as to their being of African background. The names of the three African Popes are: Victor (189-203 A.D.), Gelasius (492-496 A.D.), and Melchiades or Miltiades (311-314 A.D.). All are saints. http://www.eastandard.net/hm_news/news.php?articleid=17099 Title: Re: Rumors of a Black Pope Post by: Bantu_Kelani on April 06, 2005, 04:12:57 PM Maya, Black Africa has widely influenced Christian Europe so what? It's through Africa that Christianity became the religion of the world: Tertullian, Cyprian, and Ausgustine were natives of Africa, and Africa was Christian before Rome, but Christian Europe uses a white Jesus that enslaves black people the world over. Are Europeans true Christians?? Since Constantine the Christian Church became an organized institution of vandals!!! No black person in his right mind should agree the rights of papacy of a black man. You know a black Pope would be an excuse to convert (enslave) black folk even more!

I agree with every single word in your previous post . Just thought that link may be interesting . I'm not Christian and/or Catholic , I can see what this " religion " have done to the people of the world . Also , I hope the next pope will not be from Africa for the reasons you and Yao gave in your previous posts . |
