Title: J. Baldwin Just Above My Head
Post by: preach on October 06, 2004, 06:37:49 PM
I have just finished reading James Baldwin's, Just Above My Head. I must first say that it was a difficult read; very lengthy and emotion filled with extreme poetic license. Foreshadowing is used effectively to tell the story of Hall Montana, his brother Arthur, and their relationships with their loved ones. The in between story is a rollercoaster of loves ups and downs, fears, strengths, growth spurts, declines; and its effects on the physical mental, and spiritual being. Perhaps I have read too much into it but as always how can anyone having read a literary work by Mr. Baldwin not come away with questions, answers and understandings.
