Remember (Princess) Charity...

Princess Charity, she stood upon a throne,
higher than that which you could perceive,
(for remember the senses will sometimes deceive).
She was but a young child, a girl of eight,
could you ever imagine,
how she lived by the rubbish dump, that she truly did hate.
Her mother had taught her how she must survive,
cutting her little fingers, as she worked the tip to stay alive.
Often she would ask herself, as her tears began to well;
Can you bleed in a nightmare, or only in Hell?
For what crime is this punishment, can someone please tell?

But what comfort can her mother offer,
when she knows what women have to suffer?
And what care did they ever get from the world,
for it seemed it never knew, nor cared for Charity.
So life continued, a sufferers wage,
paid by the greedy who dealt in depravity.
But a Princess such as she, never fell off her throne.
For she would share what little she found,
not forgetting that in her suffering, she wasn't alone.
For those of us who live in privelege,
we hold the power to make a change.
So how much longer are we going to sit back and stare,
while the children die from our lack of care.
(Remember Charity,
and let's not abandon our humanity....)
