Title: Hope.
Post by: siger on May 04, 2006, 07:44:26 AM
We have for so long suffered the slings and arrows of an outrageous fortune.
Our children are to be born into a life of bondage.
We dream of a home that seems lost, even in memory.
We toil and break bone, yet we hunger and mourn, for the fruit of our sweat only serves to fatten the  master's purse.
We are at the mercy of our masters for even the food that we eat.

And do we ever complain? Yes, but what avail. Demonstration only ever earned us the splitting ache of the master's whip!

But though they take our freedom; though they bind our children;
though they break our pride; though they spite our dreams;
there is that which they cannot take away from us.
Hope! Yes, for with hope we yearn to see the rising sun.
For with it might sail the avenging ships to carry us home!
