Rastafari Speaks

Re: Rastafari and the Bible..
In Response To: Rastafari and the Bible.. ()

GREETINGS SIMON I

There are many VERSIONS/TRANSLATIONS of the Bible avaiable today in hard copy and now available online.

I persoally have the:

1.KING JAMES VERSION which is a cross reference study Bible. The KJV is important historically as it served King James to correlate the various previous translations and to centralize the many and varied dialects of Britian into a cohesive modern language. For some reason he kept it deliberately oldfashioned in that thee and thou and thy were passing out of use in his day.

2.NEW KING JAMES VERSION which is a modern revision but keeps what I feel to be the poetic nature of the language from the KJV. It is my favourite.

3.YOUNG'S TRANSLATION from the Hebrew and Greek.
he is of "YOUNG'S ANALYTICAL CONCORDANCE".This is my second favourite which I often cross reference in reading as it is quite beautiful to read.

4.THE JREUSALEM BIBLE which was translated by the School of Biblical Studies in Jerusalem from which I have the English version.
It also contains the deutercanonical books not included in some editions of the Bible otherwise known as the APOCRYPHA.

5.THE NEW INTERNATIONAL VERSION-NIV which is a modern easy read translation though not necessarily my favourite but useful at times.

6.A friend has THE DARBY VERSION which too is directly translated from the original texts but I don't paricularly like it.

7.

There are some others that I have had but have rejected them for onr reason or another.
I also have concordances and many books of interpretation by many authors e.g. I have an important interpretation of Genesis by John Calvin written in the 17thC.

WHATEVER it is a personal choice what translation you have, what you read or what you don't read or if you read it at all. Personally it is no skin off my nose either way as I am very happy with my own choices.

So if you feel there are distortions by white people there is another version which is AFRICAN centric which comes out of an American UNIVERSITY which I would like to get hold of myself..will have to look up the LINK again, sorry don't have it on hand.
There is another version, an illustrated/illuminated one THE SAINT JOHN'S BIBLE which has beautiful illustrations of Adam and Eve who are AFRICAN. I only have a book about it called "Illuminating the Word- The making of the Saint John's Bible".
love this to bits!!!!!

Anyway WHATEVER it is a personal journey, there are many favourites verses, passages, books for I and some places I don't read.
THE REVELATION is the book necessary for me to recommend you read and study right now as InI are in the end times better you are versed if you are a Bible studier n what is to befall the earth. SEE-BABYLON.

PHYCHOLOGICAL PITFALLS??? see sigmund freud perhaps.

It may seem there are many INTERPRETATIONS and there are and really the journey is actually sorting through them to what is for you and that is SPIRITUAL not intellectual.

BLESSUP
JUDAH
