An award winning Antiguan and Barbudan academic has been making the unpopular case against reparations for slavery. Dr Nsaka Sesepkekiu says his first premise is that the victims and perpetrators of slavery are no longer alive today. 00:00 00:00 *Audio included in link The local academic also challenged the version of history portrayed by Caribbean historians. 00:00 00:00 *Audio included in link Dr Sesepekekiu also says a number of black Antiguans and Barbudans were among slave owners. 00:00 00:00 *Audio included in link The academic argues there is no legal argument for reparations, as slavery was not illegal under international law at the time. The former University of the West Indies (UWI) Open Campus tutor has received awards from UWI for several of his history papers.
