Title: What If I am A Rasta?
Post by: Poetic_Princess on November 30, 2003, 06:50:23 PM
What if I am a Rasta?
Is it a crime? Arrest me!
You want to lock me up and throw away the key
Just because I am a natty dread
Cause I have a crown of which you envy and would die to have
So you yearn to pull me down, and pick at me with your sly
And witty comments and lies

What if I am a Rasta?
Is it abnormality? Then commit me!
Because I choose to be different
To be happy with my natural self
Because I choose to have sunshine and not rain
Cause I carry my garden of locks well
Which just makes your blood boil like hell
Cause my hair is raw and napptural
Nothing else lifelike than my garden of beauty
While yours thing and straight
Not breathing, dead as any sin knocking on the pearly gates

So.....what if I am a Rasta?
Does it annoy you that much?
Cause im smart and still learning
Know my history and heritage yet you can't understand
Cause you try not to
Yet you are such a fool living the white lies
While I live in self harmony and happiness mentally and physically

What if I am a Rasta?
Do you know what it means?
Can you understand my path and trod to Mount Zion like I do
Can you feel the scorn and injustment I feel day after day?
Or is it too much for the frail you
You are not as strong as I n I
Cause you have not found your will or self knowledge
For being here on earth
Why you judge me when you can't even relate to me

No more what if I am a Rasta
I AM A RASTA and don’t care what you say
I am DREADED and PROUD
Happy praising Selassie I
Trodding to Mount Zion
