Title: repatriation - what are you waiting for?
Post by: freethinker on January 04, 2006, 07:15:06 PM
Sometimes I think the problems of the Blacks, be it in the diaspora or in Africa is the lack of action. The call for repatriation among the Rastafari and the focus on Africa for black consciousness movements is in the air for so long.

The Jews were driven away from their homeland long time ago. They were scattered all over the world and suffered persecution and loss. Nevertheless they mobilized all their resources and made a mass immigration of jews to Israel possible, starting at the beginning of the 20th century. The western world was not in favour of zionism nor were the arabs welcoming them with open arms. The jews were fighting their enemies (Brits and Arabs) and worked hard to build up their country. They handled all hardship and sacrificed their possessions and their lifes for their new nation.

The Jews did not wait idly until some merciful God made their dream come true. They did not complain about how unfair they got treated in the past and how bad the system was to them in present. NO! They accomplished it by themself through solidarity among their brothers and sisters and through HARD WORK and visions!

Why cant the Africans get their act together and build up the ideal society? Why are the Rastafari's not going to Africa and make it happen. What are you waiting for. It's all in your hand. Dont rely on anybody - not even on a higher power. Babylon is not holding you back. You are holding yourself back! You have no right for excuses.

Of course there are many challenges facing the Africans world wide, however Israel should never be held as an example for where we should go. If they are to be an example it is an example of what we should NOT do. In fact they are a prime example of how action without thought (reasoning) or concern for justice can only lead to self destruction.

Israeli Jews are where they are because of oppression of the Palestinian people, the alliances they formed with imperial nations as well as other disingenuous actions. In any case, I do not hold their society in any esteem.

The problems of Africans are not going to be solved merely by any physical movements. Of course, little will be different if Africans in the Diaspora go back to Africa with their poor conditioning and Western/Judeo-Christianized mindset. Thus I see repatriation as being firstly a mental process where Africans reacquaint themselves with the best of the ancestral wisdom. From this position the Africans who chose to go back to African can do so in a more informed and sensitive manner.

I do not know where you see people making excuses. Maybe you would like to be more specific.

The Jews are in Israel because they had no other place to go and Palestine was their ancient homeland. The Palestinians are not purely innocent in this conflict. Both parties are responsible in the same way. Jews always lived in Palastine while it was part of the Osman Empire, and later under British rule. Unfortunately fighting broke out between Jews, Arabs and the British in the middle.  The jews had no alliances first, while the Palastines got support from the Arab world. The Jews won the civil war and could later win support from 'imperial nations' for a souvereign state though they didn't oppress the Arabs inside Israel who are full citizens of the nation now. Of course there are more than one perspective you can take to judge the situation. It's a very subjective matter...

That sounds very good but when the day comes that Africans in the diaspora finished their preparation for going back to Africa? Isn't it an illusion that it will ever happen? I think Africa is merely idealized by the African diaspora though it was never a place of milk and honey and never will be as mankind is not able to live together in harmony. Only individuals can gain spiritual wisdom but not a whole society. If you are waiting to create a society based on this high principles you'll never succeed.

free thinker have a good point still. the "wait until we're all mentally prepared" ting is an illusion. if we follow that we may never go back to africa.

The Jews that presently occupy Israel are not the Israelites that the Bible speaks of.  Majority of these jews are called Ashkanez Jews.  These are europeans that were converted to the Hebrew religion.  To say they have regained their land is practicly the same as saying that the egyptians of today have reclaimed their old home egypt.  But we know that even though these people want to call themselves egyptians all a person has to do is go into the ancient temples and look at the people painted on the walls to see that these people living there today are not the real egyptians.  Even though the jews did fight to take away the land from the palestinians to form this new Israel.  We must remember that they did not do it by themselves. It was the powers of Europe that came together after world war 2 and took it from the palestinians with their superior weapons because they did not want these jews in europe.  So as far as us Africans are concerned if we the African diaspora would pull our strength together with our African brothers on the continent we would be able to do the same.  But the problem is well known that Africans serve many different masters and are not as willing to serve themselves.  If we did not invite the Arabs and the Europeans in and turn against our own brothers and sisters in our race to please them we would not be in this perdicument.  For as the days of old when both of these groups came to Africa to get cheap labour.  It was our own brothers that turned against us and helped them to learn the continent and to capture who ever they wanted.  And the same thing is going on these days when AfricanAmericans would go to somalia and fight their brothers and help to further the interest of their european masters in america or when these muslim sudanese would turn against their brothers in the south to please their arab masters.  So to me the problem is known and the solution is known.  the only problem is uniting to impliment them.  May God Bless and Guide us to Find A Way!  One-Love Africa for Africans, Europe for Europeans, Arabia for Arabians.
