I don't want to lose you ( poem taken from Sally Ann book 2)
By Kateb Nuri Shunnar

In the beginning
God gave us dominion over the land
And from us civilization began
And like the fern plant knowledge and wisdom begun to grow
Our culture sprung up like grass blades coming up from the sand
We raised the mountains, and cultivated the land
We were the ones God said to
"Let us make man "
We
The
Kings
And
Queens
The daughters and sons of God
The fruit of the ever living tree
Are at the brink of losing our history
And all the power we had over the land
To the sons and daughters of that accursed man
Today I stand up never again will I let him abuse you
Dear history I don't want to lose you
Dear history enlighten me so that I may use you
To better my future and prevent the evils from the past from ever happing again
A wonderful tool are you
So I hold on to you
Because history I don't want to lose you.

I don't want to lose
The vision of my fathers and mothers who gave their lives
So I could be who I' am.
I don't want to forget the talent, arts, music and dance
I can't let you be blown away in the wind like the sand .
Oh history so many of the people care not about you
They say your old and we must look forward to the new
Oh history look how they do away with you
But the sad thing is that with out you their world will always be misty blue
See you're the key to a brighter tomorrow
But they refuse to use you
But
I
Do
Because I don't want to lose you .
