Title: Zimbabwean Cricket World Cup Players Ordered to cut locks
Post by: emrukunanti on April 02, 2007, 04:07:39 AM
Greetings Unto Yu All One and Ones !
I read with utter dismay an article from a local newspaper whereby black Zimbabwean Cricket players with flowing locks were ordered to cut them by Zimbabwe Cricket officials.  There reasons given were presentability and uniformity and also that cricket is a gentleman's game.
This was truly an insult to black people in general.  Dreadlocks are our source of pride and in our ancient culture they were associated with holy people like the Coptic priests of Ethiopia.  By ordering the removal of locks Zimbabwe Cricket undermined African pride and dignity.  They proved that they are still promoting colonial propaganda which says that locks are dirty and and a black person with locks is not presentable.
For uniformity's sake why doesn't the Pakistan captain Inzamam-Ul-Haq remove his overflowing beard?  For presentability, why doesn't Sri lanka's Lasith Malinga remove his wig-like hair?  And, if cricket is such a Gentleman's game, why all the match fixing and why is Bob Woolmer dead?
