Title: Nelson Mandela
Post by: orangerevolt on November 17, 2007, 07:34:52 PM
"I have walked a long road to freedom. I have tried not to falter; I have made missteps along the way. But I have discovered the secret that after climbing a great hill, one only finds that there are many more hills to climb. I have taken a moment here to rest, to steal a view of the glorious vista that surrounds us, to look back on the distance we have come. But I can rest only for a moment, for with freedom comes responsibilities, and I dare not linger, for my long walk is not yet ended." ~Nelson Mandela

Anyone know if this is from the end of 'A Long Walk to Freedom'?

He mentions something another person told him at some stage when he was in jail in the earlies that stayed with me of all the things in that very long walk:

'...let your courage rise with danger!'
