Here the noght comes with cloak and shadow,
here the night comes , so slow and subtle,,
haul in the dark as Phoebus' runs,
and let us us make love under the starry lights.

The cows are in, my chores are done,
so down to the stream this eve' i will run,
I'll find her there, she'll meet me bare,
and bliss i'll know till i'm drunk on her rum.

Play,cricket, play, your stringy fiddle,
let the leaf whistle, as i near the meadow,
hoot and bay, you ghostly orchestra,
for tonite you witness a lovers' opera.

She comes, oh, she comes, this blinding darkness,
Flames so cold, an angel heartless,
perfection imperfect, silent scream, black light
this is she that rides the night.

here the night comes, with cloak and shadow,
to bring together in Africa's furrow,
a princess of beauty, the daughter of the sun,
and a lowly serf, the happy miller's son.
