I have been here before
This familiar place
I dare not stay

I have felt this way before
This familiar feeling
I dare not feel today

Oh! A twist of the heart
And I am bleeding,
Crying for my life torn apart
That familiar stranger
Leaving, departing forever
Happiness is shattered
Love cannot be remembered
And fear returns as my friend
Is this the beginning of the end?

No! In my infinite wisdom
I dare not think or perceive
Lonliness to be my companion
Or to even wander among
Myriad thoughts of confusion
But to open my eyes and see
Myself as a constant reminder
Of what must be life in profusion

I have been here before
This familiar place
I dare not stay

I have felt this way before
This familiar feeling
I dare not feel today

AH! But yesterday I found
My wings and I learnt how to fly
Through the storm way above
The clouds, finding a home in the sky
Resting on that silver lining
Finding sunshine, illuminating my mind
Because I have been here before
And I dare to stay for a moment,
A day, even for a lifetime.
