The main reason why the children protested, were because their parents were already maids and yard boys for the Europeans, and they decided, that they did not want to go to school, just to get an education which would make them maids and yard boys like their parents, for they who were maids and yard boys, were only able to see their own children and family, for about two hours on Sundays, while the rest of their time, were spent in the maid quarters at the houses of the Europeans.

So, their own children lived in poverty, while they spend their time, taking care of the children and families of the slave masters. They also think that the education which they were being given in schools, were based on them becoming maids and domestic servants like their mothers, and they just were not going to make this situation continue from generation to generation. And since most of their fathers, uncles and other grown up men in their families, were either killed or were imprisoned, they had to let the Aparthied system know, that they were not going to take those same condtions, without resistance. And so for about 13 years they continued their resistance without fear, if some of them were killed, others who were growing up, take up the position and continued the struggle, until the back of Aparthied was broken by international sanctions and resistance.
