What backlash? Restrictions on land ownership by non-nationals has been occuring in the Caribbean and Latin America since the 90s. However as the article states, Africa (Congo & Sudan) and some parts of Latin America (Colombia, to be more precise) promises the greatest reward. Coincidentally these are the places at constant war. War serves to mutilate and dislocate; when the war has succeeded in destroying the society's warriors, then the land-grabbers move in to usurp the land and enslave the resident land owners; or what remains of those who choose community over anonymity.
Isn't it funny that the so-called uncivilized seem to be the only humans capable of treating Mother nature/earth with civility. I continue to maintain, that the appropriate sentence for any Prodigal Son is DEATH.
