J.A. Rogers was given a medal by His Imperial Majesty in recognition for his work to dispel widespread myths about the Black Race. He records that the Emperor regarded Himself as a Black man.
All the Ethiopians I have discussed the matter with also regard themselves as Black, despite the fact that ethnic groups such as the Amhara have light skin. In fact, Africa's people present so many different shades of Black, such a wide variety of features. That is why, you can tell the various nationalities apart in a crowd of just Black people- and not just by their shade.
