The elite are the ones controlling the means of production globally for their own massive benefit(as well as U.S. consumption, of which 'we' are overrepresented). 'The African residents of Amerikkka stopping consumerism' would only solve part of the problem. In fact even if ALL the residents of the United Snakes stopped blind consumerism, the beast still wouldn't be completely destroyed, although it would be crippled. Ceasing consumerism is the part that we have immediate and direct control over though.
