Excuse me, but I think your views in this matter are surprisingly (if not deliberately) lop-sided, and as such, are exactly the type of views that would worsen the very divide under discussion. The discussion deals with *Relations* between the two groups of the same ethnic group, and that would mean to me that each of the two groups needs to get out their cultural and mental confines to meet the other at a mutual point half the way between. I think without this basic framework of thought as a first step in the right direction, everything you say and think and claim as Zimbabwean/African on the matter may, though prove to be helpful in understanding how an African mind such as yours functions, only be subjective and even seem to be prejudiced in effect.
Discipleofthenile set it right when he wrote:
“I bet you I can come to Zimbabwe and find ones who worship america AND her vices”
and CHALLENGED you to:
“Show … proof that Babylon is nowhere to be found in Zimbabwe, Rhodesia, (or anywhere else) …”
Instead of being on the "first jet back" (to Afrika), it is exactly people like you, Masimba, who prefer to stay put at the heart of the Belly of the Beast, and bewail your daily plights terribly, all caused by one crazy old man, a dictator called Robert Mugabe! … Some of you (African) guys are especially not serious! … Africans, in my experience, are usually good at only theorizing, quick to blame others/Afrikans for all their plights, when, in most cases, what they’re actually yearning for is another personal good life in Africa … (“African culture” is quite irrelevant, dispensable)!! It is my estimation that many will quote African culture over the Internet only when it suits them. They may also misuse such references as a (kind of) “shield” to also help in “checking” other people who may not know exactly what “African culture” is being talked about, referred to or where, or about life in Afrika and its PLIGHTS (which many of us consciously prefer to run away from) etc. This being an Afrika-centred forum, I’m sure some people deliberately do that fully conscious of the type of “protective shield” this offers them, knowing that no black person, or anyone else here with a good mentality, would castigate them for claiming to stand on such premises when they argue their case.
Discipleofthenile beautifully wrote that he’d “rather be awake in america than sleep in Africa, any day.” For Afrikans living overseas/in exile, though, I think most act as if they were awake in Afrika but continue to sleep in exile, each day.
