Blame should not be placed on anyone who was not directly involved in these atrocities. However, I do not think blame is the issue here. We should all no that the greatest blame should be placed on the white slave traders and leaders of that era. Some white people today may have inherited wealth directly from the slave industry, others have not. Regardless, white people do benefit form all the institutions of white supremacy. It is not fair for the grandchildren of Africans who sufferred the most inhumane treatment and who worked without pay to help create this modern day wealth to have to continue living in poverty and disease in this era of morality. I do not understand why so many white people get all defensive about this issue. Istead of immediately reacting offended by the prospect of having to give up your hard earned cash, why not look at it in balanced way. It would not make sense nor be right to take money from a family, living paycheck to paycheck just because of being white. The only practical way to look at it would be to tax those wealthy nations and individuals, who may not necessarily be to blame directly, but still benefit from the slave trade and from slavery of African peoples. Why is it that giving a helping hand to those unfortunate ones who continue to suffer from past atrocities admission of fault. Those with money and a conscious should eagerly give donations for the benefit of African peoples. We all know that today the wealthiest percent of people have far too much wealth. Ideally, I would like to see that wealth reistributed to the benefit of all the poor. Intead of blaming or not blaming, how about seeking equal rights and justice, regardless of who is to blame.
