...I didn't say that he defrauded/ misappropriated the BSL, I said that "there seems to have been some mismanagement on Garvey's part, particularly financial..." I was referring more to things that I have read that suggest poor planning/organization re. shipping details, leading to major losses of cargo. BUT:

…not a mystery at all, and I don’t doubt that indictment on mail fraud charges was just as you said, something to pin on him to get him out of the States.

…agreed. That’s why I wrote that

“The Black Star Line was to promote a global African economy; it was to be a Black owned and run company that promoted trade and exchange of services between Black people worldwide. Garvey's vision was revolutionary; the limits of the resources available to him and the power of the forces working against him may have been underestimated. Never the less, the Black Star Line was a very powerful and inspirational symbol of what Africans can do.”
