Micah...

All refined food is a problem (refined sugar salt, rice, flour - they are all drugs to our organism as it suffers to get them eliminated).

sugar and salt are complementary oposites, one is expansive (sugar) and the other is contractive (salt). Sugar is yin, salt is yang. Like you said, if you eat too much salt you then want the sugar and vice -versa.

Salt is important the the organism because of it's minerals like iodo. The problem is when people refine it as it will loose almost all nutrients.

But there are ways of consuming it. I just have salt on teh food when I prepare it with toasted sesame as the sesame will make you feel no thisty in the ingestion of salt. I don't use salt out of that as I don't use it to cook.

When we reduce salt we feel like reducing sugar.

Also not eating meat will reduce the desire for salt and sugar.

This is only your organism adjusting when asks for sugar after salt as they are complementary opposites.

Rarelly I use brown sugar when making a sweet bread for example, but I feel satisfied with the sugar of natural fruits.

Can I help more?

Mandingo.

Peace.

The ocean is from where all life sprang. The ocean is filled with incredible nutrients that are some of the building blocks for life. I feel that the nutrients in the ocean water are important for us as living organisms.

Perhaps you could try munching on some high quality seaweed or kelp which has many of these nutrients and a very salty taste. You could use this in lieu of processed refined salts in recipes such as soups, salads, etc.
