Ok....I was watching B.E.T. and and a Ludacris video came on and he was wearing a Garvey t-shirt. The name of song was "ass around the world."

So are you saying that he shouldn't have on a Garvey shirt while talking about asses? The subject matter of his song has no bearing on his level of consciousness. We are all sexual creatures. And some of us are honest enough to admit our fetishes. It is possible that Ludacris may hold Garvey in higher esteem than you do.

My friend Preach,
I made the mistake of juging him and grouping him in with the negative side of the hip hop industry. I admit that I don't know much about him. I will learn more about him before I try to judge him. Judging is up to Jah-Jah anyway. Thanks for the guidance, sorry for the ignorance.

P.S. it is very true that we are all sexual creatures, I don't want to come across like I don't believe that. I just think that women are to be treated and talked about in a manner of respect. It's more of the negative ideals of some of the artists that I have a problem with than it is Ludacris. Misdirected anger I suppose

Peace Raskemo. I have a problem with some artists as well. Their material lacks substance and creativity. The subject matter is redundant and elementary. I too am guilty of misdirecting my anger.

I don't think Ludacris nor most of these other clowns who call themselves artists should be allowed to defame our respected black leaders by invoking thier names and images out of proper context.
Public Enemy I'd accept.
Even Ice Cube, if he wore a Garvey t-shirt in a video, I'd accept.
But not somebody like Luda or the Ying-Yang Twins.

MAybe just maybe his trip to the motherland made him aware of his ancestry. I amm sure he wore that T shirt as a tribute, just like many wear bob marley t shirts. Besides the song was just highlighting the women of the world and saying that african women are the most beautiful, something we rarely do hear about in mainstream TV. As bad as his lyrics were when he discribed the same women, i can dig it.
