info@uhururadio.comAfrican Socialist International Conference:On October 7th, 2006, African delegates from around the world will converge at the African Caribbean Centre in London for a 3-day conference to build an international organisation to coordinate efforts to unify and liberate Africa and place its vast resources into the hands of African workers and poor peasants.
Conference participants from Sierra Leone, South Africa, Mozambique, Nigeria, Zimbabwe, Cameroon, Uganda, Congo, Germany, Belgium, the U.K., the U.S. and Barbados are aiming to remove the divisions created by the current national borders drawn by colonial powers in the 1884-5 Berlin Conference to divide and exploit the riches and populations of Africa for the benefit of Europe. They intend to create a single "United States of Africa" spanning the continent.
The Conference is open to the public and will include workshops on consolidating an African national identity, reparations, and the role of the party, women, youth and cultural workers in the struggle to liberate and unify Africa.
Conference organiser Luwezi Kinshasa explains, “The only solution to the desperate poverty, illness and economic dependency is the unification of Africa into one powerful nation. It is time now that we, the African workers and poor peasants, take our future into our own hands and liberate our Africa under an all-African socialist government. With our unity, we will defeat the opportunist African petty bourgeoisie that has sold us out time and time again.
"With the power of the over one billion Africans worldwide we will implement the visions of our great leaders Kwame Nkrumah, Patrice Lumumba and Marcus Garvey of a united and free Africa, the homeland of Africans on the continent and those forcible dispersed across the globe. It is a project to make Africa a powerhouse in the world, where no nation would be able to steal our resources and labour at our expenses.
“For so long, our riches and talents have shaped, against our own will, every aspect of modern civilisation in the hands of our oppressors. With all of the scattered fronts of African resistance against imperialism throughout the world united into a single fighting revolutionary organisation, the world will be changed forever.”
The Conference initiator Omali Yeshitela, Chairman of the African People's Socialist Party, is calling on Africans around the world who unite with the struggle for the unification and liberation of Africa "to join in this amazing effort to build the African Socialist International.”
The Conference to Build the African Socialist International will convene on Saturday, October 7th at 10:00 a.m. at the African Caribbean Centre, 9 Clarendon Road Hornsey, in London. For more information, visit asiuhuru.org or call (0) 208 265 1731.
