The Maimouna Keita School of African Dance, Inc. Presents 5 days of Traditional African Dance, Drum & History from Senegal, Guinea, Mali, Ivory Coast, the Congo, Cuba and the USA. The largest ethnic dance conference in New York City is about to happen, again.

Maimouna Keita School of African Dance, Inc, a 501 (c) (3) tax-exempt entity was founded in 1983 by Marie Basse-Wiles and Olukose Wiles. The organization is dedicated to preserving and sharing African culture and history with all whom embrace the culture. Each season the Maimouna Keita School of African Dance presents its Annual International Dance Conference & Concert in New York City.

The weeklong dance conference is held at Baruch College while the concert is presented on the stage of Symphony Space both located in New York City. The concert features electrifying songs, dances and drumming, to bridge the cultural gap between people of all backgrounds. This year will mark the 14th annual concert and conference. Hundreds of students from all over the U.S. and the world are to attend, and Master Guest Teachers will fly in from Senegal, Guinea, Congo, Mali, Ivory Coast and various cities in the USA. Marie Basse Wiles, Maimouna Keita's Artistic Director, is a twenty-year veteran and matriarch of ethnic dance in New York City, heralding from Senegal where she was a principal dancer and rehearsal mistress for Le Ballet National du Senegal. She will, as usual, be teaching some of the most popular classes at the Conference.
