In need of Advice

I was at school today going about my business until I decided to go to the washroom, it turned out the washroom on one side of the school was locked so I proceeded to the washroom near the entrance. As I had entered the washroom I saw a black male by the name of Jeremy. One of his friends who was white (I could tell by the voice) was sitting in a bathroom stall unloading some things. Well back to Jeremy....I believe he is 17 years old now but he could be a bit older I don't know for sure. The problems with me is I can't tell joking from seriousness sometimes, but as we progressed into our conversation his true motives showed with time.
It had started with me walking into the washroom and I saw him at the water device or what ever the thing is. It was the usual he called me a "fag", I joked around with him to but some of the things he said where pissing me off, I really don't like this guy sometimes. Then I hear a voice from the white guy in the stall saying something like "where only joking with you man" so I listened and was more outgoing. I managed to keep him under control by saying "you don't want a conflict do you jeremy", eventually his constant "joking" did not go well with me. This was until he said "Don't you remember Rob, when you told the teacher when you told your mom on me" (This was after I said I past that math class, he failed). The way he said it just got under my skin, he looked so seriouse trying to make the white guy taking a dump in the toilet stall believe him. I then became more hostile explaining why thats a lie, at this point I was pissed off enough so I proceeded to leave the washroom and I said "Still caught in the system huh Jeremy" while some other Jamican guy was taking a piss but I know him hes the quiet type. After I said that I calmly walked out of the washroom facing the door to get to my class. I then heard a swift movement and I quickly turned around only to see him rushing me, I could tell this guy was pist off. I admit I was a bit caught off guard but I was fast enough to turn around so this slightly overweight guy would not attack me. Hes from Jane and Finch the harshest ghetto in toronto (I live in the suburbs). To my advantage he stopped and did not proceed any further. He is a coward but I fear he may get a group of black guys to jump me again, then again I may be underestimating him and maybe he can fight for himself. After he rushed me and stopped my heart was already elevated I admit I did not expect that at the time I said that. After he rushed me and stopped like a scared little boy I told him "Just get good marks in school and you will pass and go to university". You gotta realise people this is Canada, The oppression of black people here is much less than in the United States even though it may be evident it is a lot easier to be here for a black person then there. Where the ones who helped freed black slaves at the time when you where still slaves. This was also a time when Canada had an all white population.
So...the advice Im seeking is just..I don't want to get in more conflicts with black guys in general. The reason for me getting jumped by some was what contributed to me getting kicked out of school. I was even asked if I wanted to press charges and I declined. I believe in black people having more rights but when black males are very hostile towards me, it tends to change my decision sometimes since and I do have the capability to be violent and angry. All I want to know is what I should do to avoid any conflicts in the future since I don't want to ruin my life again and I want to avoid violent confrontations, I don't like to fight for the wrong reasons. I already have a pretty good idea on what to do but any advice will be very appreciated...thank you.
Im aware that saying "you still caught in the system" will make many black people mad and I fully understand why, I have learned a lot here.
Before I finish I don't want to see any replys saying how much this white guy should have been beaten up and all this other extremist afro-centric thought. I don't think I need to say any names you know who you are.

If you receive, consistently or infrequently, the same reactions to your participations in social situations, it may be being caused by something negative in your expressed that you've overlooked. Killu, you're not the most sensitive guy in the world when it comes to cultural sore spots, yunno.
