December 2, 2007 Program Highlights (Scroll down for full schedule)

Omali Yeshitela in the 1980s "Free Freddie Roberts!". On Omali Yeshitela Speaks this Sunday, 10:00 - 11:00 (10:00 a.m.- 11:00 a.m.) U.S. Eastern Time, we present a speech by African People's Socialist Party Chairman Omali Yeshitela in Oakland, California on November 10, 1985 at an Uhuru House banquet to raise money for the case of Freddie Roberts. Roberts was a young African facing false charges for the murder of an Oakland cop.

The campaign to Free Freddie Roberts was a part of the Uhuru Movement's strategy to put the interests of the African working class back in the forefront of political struggle in Oakland, California in the 1980s, after the military defeat of the Black Power movement of the 1960s. In this presentation, Chairman Omali explains the significance of Oakland as the birthplace of the Black Panther Party and the effects of COINTELPRO (the FBI's counterintelligence program) and neo-colonialism in setting back the African community's ability to continue the independence struggle to its victorious conclusion.

Party School Highlights. On Africa Live this Sunday, 11:00 - 13:00 (11:00 a.m.- 1:00 p.m.) U.S. Eastern Time, African People's Socialist Party organizer Nyabinga Dzimbahwe will present Part 4 of excerpts and discussion from the African People's Socialist Party's school, held this fall in St. Petersburg, Florida.
