Higher Reasoning

« on: November 05, 2004, 11:51:19 AM »

Greetings.

The reasoning that ensued in the thread "Who to Blame this Time" has brought to light (to me anyway) a pertinent question. That is, can whites have an effective analysis of the issues that can be of any benefit to people of color? Perhaps we are too entrenched to be able to confront all the blindspots, assumptions that our privilege gives us. Plus, if our egos get in the way, it is very hard to see when someone points out a fault(a tendency to see it as an attack rather than constructive criticism.)

If this is indeed the reality, what is workable and what is not? Is it indeed more fruitful to accept the state of the white mindstate and work out solutions in spite of it, or do ones think there is any hope in reaching at least some whites? Where does this leave whites in relation to the scheme of things - what is the most beneficial application of ones who are at least trying to get it right?

The strength of a people relies on the progress of its own people. This means that black people don't need to bend or flex as white people want to reshape us. In a given independent culture, it is imperative that the people in it know how to handle their own problems. We, as black people, need to speak about and resolve our own problems now without white patronage. So I would like to ask you all white liberal "Afrocentrits", do you think we should therefore systematically bring you to our table? Why do you believe you should notice and analyze all our perspectives? Eventually, you will trip over the radical blacks when you spread so much crap in our heads that you deem need to be cleaned out of efficient Black Revolution. We had a million-man march in Washington, and have you done anything to change many of our problems???

For white people to do the right thing, it is crucial to know what conscious Blacks feel the relation of white people is to the struggle of Black self-determination. This is why I am asking.

White people need informed, conscious Black perspective in order to influence a proper plan of action amongst ourselves which does not fall into the typical white patterns of infiltration, co-optation and eventual watering down. Obviously it is a learning process for us.

There is a huge mass of well-intentioned white people who think they are doing the right thing but in reality only contribute to the crap. If it is agreed that white people need to get their noses out of Black affairs and deal with our own problems which allow this system to continue to exist, then we need informed whites who can bring this perspective to these "well-intentioned" whites so that there can be at least a beginning of a proper relation with the root of the issues at hand.

The proper order must be pointed out.

Thoughts?

The type of ideas and programs you acknowledged I believe are the key to ending prejudices. We all know that. Now, you "well-intentioned" whites need to SERIOUSLY build organized action to strengthen the legitimacy of our Black voice.
