SAN DIEGO,
CALLS ON ALL WHO RESPECT THE SACRED:
STOP THE JACKSON BROTHERS
FROM DEFILING OUR ANCESTORS’ SACRED
LAND –
A PETITION TO U. S. AMBASSADOR SUSAN RICE
1. A great abuse of the sacred is about to be enacted in the name of fun tourism, with sobs of
crocodile (pretended) grieving. This petition is an effort to expose and stop the vandalism.
2. Throughout history, sites at which tragedy has occurred have been consecrated as sacred by
those who witnessed and wish to commemorate the sadness that took place. Whenever evil takes
place on a large scale, it is universally accepted that the places of horrific occurrences should be
remembered, and remain intact. The extermination camp at Auschwitz-Birkenau, where you can still
hear the shrill screams of over 1.1 million Jews and other victims who were slaughtered by gas
chambers, systematic starvation, forced labor, and medical experiments, is not to be touched by the
industrial world because of the significance it holds to those who lost their loved ones to the evils of
the Holocaust. The Killing Fields in Cambodia, with the mist of injustice and the smell of 200,000
corpses still surrounding the monuments, remains impervious to development because of the
indisputable horror of the Genocide that took place there.
Currently, the slave port of Badagery, Nigeria is the subject of heated debate, as the Jackson Family
(previously known as the Jackson 5) has made plans to place a “Slavery Memorial Theme Park”
(complete with a spa, mini-golf course, and a Jackson 5 museum with audio-animotronics of the
famous brothers) on top of this place that should be consecrated as sacred ground. Should the
horror of Slavery (with nearly ten times the victims of the Auschwitz- Birkenau Camp) not hold the same
significance as that Holocaust or that of Cambodian Genocide? It is pure ignorance and
irresponsibility for the Jacksons to place a landmark for their own monetary interest on top of a
hallowed place that holds great importance for so many people around the world.
It is not so much injustice as it is disregard for culture; yet this ridiculous prospect of a theme
park can, must, and WILL be stopped. If you are reading this, just be aware that you CAN make a
difference in this world, simply by signing this petition to halt the development of an amusement park
on top of sacred ground. Together, we can make a change.
Thank you.
