This series was produced by the Brazilian investigative journalism nonprofit Agencia Publica, and translated by BuzzFeed.
Andrea Dip, with Alexandre DeMaio and Patricia and Alessandra De Almeida have created a graphic novel type approach to the problems of prostitution in Brazil and to an extent other Latin American neighbors to Brazil.

The reporter speaks to activists, police, social workers, president of the state council among others. They attempt to discover the causes for women sold into prostitution. Prostitution is legal in Brazil as a means to enable men and women to have legal rights for their occupation. However, it is illegal to kidnap and sell people into slavery. Sexual slavery happens all over the world, why should we look at Brazil? It is because the majority of women sold into prostitution are of African descent, and are working class, at times sold by their own families as well. In addition, the majority of girls are very young.
There are many points worth considering and the World cup is just one more way to pave the road for unscrupulous practices in the country
