Dr. KWAME NKRUMAH is definitely one of the great African freedom fighters who has made his distinct contribution to Black racial history. In 1961 said "Divided we are weak. United, Africa could become one of the greatest forces for good in the world". I strongly and sincerely respect in his deep-rooted Wisdom and Dignity!

I agree he was a brilliant man, probably one of the greatest minds to come out of Africa. It's amazing how many books he put out.  My favorite are

Africa Must Unite
Kwame Nkrumah Autobiography

Ghana was not ready for his visions and Africa was not ready for an African Bank system, African unity, United States of Africa and other ideas he had about a Pan African unity.

YES YES!!! This man has inspired so many. He has also left as a legacy an organization for us to join to continue the fight(The All African Peple's Revolutionary Party). Pan-Africanism is the key to our liberation. Unification and organization are a must. Dr. Osagyefo Kwame Nkrumah lives on in all of us.
My favorite books by him are "Consciencism: Philosophy and Ideology for De-Colonization".

"All people of African descent, whether they live in North or South America, the Caribbean, or in any part of the world are Africans and belong to the African nation."

"The total liberation and unification of Africa under an All-African Socialist Government must be the primary objective of all Black revolutionaries throughout the world. It is an objective which when achieved, will bring about the fulfillment of the aspirations of Africans and people of African descent everywhere. It will at the same time advance the triumph of the international socialist revolution."

"I must once again emphasize that the masses of the people form the backbone of our Party and their living conditions and their welfare must be paramount in everything we do. It is for them in particular and Africa in general that our Party exists." - Speech at the 14th Anniversary of the Convention Peoples Party. 12 June 1963

"Our aim is to make this country a worthy place for all its citizens, a country that, will be a shining light throughout the whole continent of Africa, giving inspiration far beyond its frontiers. And this we can do by dedicating ourselves to unselfish service to humanity." - Motion of Destiny speech. 10 July 1953

"We shall measure our progress by the improvement in the health of our people; by the number of children in school, and by the quality of their education; by the availability of water and electricity in our towns and villages, and by the happiness which our people take in being able to manage their own affairs. The welfare of our people is our chief pride, and it is by this that my Government will ask to be judged. " - Broadcast to the Nation. 24 December 1957

"It was on the 12th of June, 1949, that the masses of our people witnessed the coming into being of the Convention People's Party. It was a time of great political awakening, and our Party was destined to lead the people to victory. This revolutionary Party of ours was to rekindle the torch of African nationalism and blaze the way to the total emancipation and unity of our continent." - Kwame Nkrumah, speaking for the CPP and the Government of Ghana, Address to the National Assembly. 12 June 1965

"Economically and industrially Europe and the USA are ready and poised for socialism. There are the necessary material ingredients which could make socialism possible overnight. In the USA when automation and cybernation aided by nuclear energy reach their highest form of development, the forces of production will have been developed to a point at which there could be the classless society which Marx predicted could come only under communism. But although the USA is at present one of the most affluent and industrialized countries in the world, it is at the same time one of the most socially and politically backward." - pages 73-74, Class Struggle in Africa

I have Consciencism but I've been intimidated to read it. I was breezing through the book one day and I was like  Huh, I don't understand the symbols and stuff he is using.

Maybe one day you can break down the questions I have when I'm finish reading it.

I had to read each page 3 times(at least) before I could even begin to understand it. It is the most challenging book I have EVER read(which is why it is one of my favorites, I can actually say I read it Shocked) ...and it definately was worth it. The man was a genious. I have read many a good book, but this one caused me to think so hard I had many a headache. Smiley But that's a good thing. My brain needed the exercise. Grin

Africans need a strong sense of Nationalism and Unity to become indomitable. This concept indeed formed the basis of Osagyefo Dr. Kwame Nkrumah Pan-Africanism! Unlike you though, I think in 1961 most African leaders were ready for one federal government with wealth and strength as a Great Power whose greatness could have been indestructible. Upon Ghana independence Dr. Nkrumah made it perfectly clear that the freedom of Ghana was linked to the freedom of Black Africa Diaspora!

Ghana was the base for training African freedom fighters and revolutionary African leadership. During the same period the President Nkrumah built new cities and also technical colleges and universities. More children went to school and were educated than had ever been achieved in Africa. The Ghanaian government achieved in 8 years what the White man had not done for Black Africans in hundred years of ruling.
yes, Dr. Nkrumah who was a very enlightened African leader stemmed the tide of dependency but the Uncle Toms Africans undermined his efforts and the American CIA got rid of him.

The people were robbed of honest, dynamic and Nationalist leaders. Everything went downhill from there. People who had little vision or ideas replaced Dr. Nkrumah, Mwalimu Julius Nyerere, Patrice Lumuba etc. All the African leaders now are CIA agents. No one dare do anything to displease the Western powers. Whereas, at the time of Dr. Nkrumah, Ghana was the beacon of Africa. Through this one man the rest of Africa rapidly gained its honor and independence. When the CIA to got rid of Kwame Nkrumah government it was as if the western powers knew exactly which government to take out in Africa to plunge the continent into chaos and darkness. But Kwame Nkrumah's United Africa ideologies will prevail. Let us start acting again -even in the smallest ways- to show our people what solidarity means and work towards a common goal of developing Africa united.
